Best of 2009
For this years traditional Detour best of post I thought I'd try something different and let someone else pick their top shot from each month – so I nominated H. And so without further ado, the winners are:
- Jan: Party Central I adore the composition, geometry and lighting in this one.
- Feb: Trade Secret Tough though. I love Porthole because it's a clever use of the fisheye.
- Mar: Captivating Some portraits just really hit the mark.
- April: Crystal Ball Somehow this one just slipped past quietly. An under-the-radar pic for me that just jumped out as a fave.
- May: I (tomato) U or Summer Fields All that sky <3
- June: IS A FUCKER. SURPRISE CHICKEN VS SO MANY THINGS. I'mma have to go with surprise chicken, but Winter Vine is also amazing, and brother-approved!
- July: Oh deer I don't know. I just do, although the mushroom comes in second.
- Aug: Sunset Pier This is wall-print-worthy.
- Sep: Ivy The pass marks happen when I'm literally walking past the office - right place, right time. This one is perspective, perspective, perspective, but it nearly lost to a dark flowery one Calalily Bouquet
- Oct: No Swimming Even with all the India pics, I just do.
- Nov: Blanketed TEA?
- Dec: It's either Caterpillar or Bah Humbug 5 [the alternative] Amazing stuff.
Afterwards H mentioned to me she'd tried to find a representative selection of posts; one critter shot, portrait, landscape etc. which I think is more than I've done in previous selections.
Thanks for all that missus.
[updated 02/01/10 :: I forgot to invite everyone else to vote for their favourite post or posts from 2009, so (if you want to play along) let me know in the comments what you liked. For me, if I had to choose only one post, it'd be No Tide, or Creeper or Passing. Fine, even I can't narrow it down to just one!
