Anytime someone has tried to help me get a job or even just given me a heads-up on something and a contact name, my standard offer of thanks has been the promise of a night out on the piss. But I have to land the job before I'll spring for the drinks, so until recently I'd never had to make good on the deal. After my recent move J called in her marker, so Friday night a few weeks back we hit the town.

Starting with work-drinks at about 6pm, we made our way to about 8 or 9 establishments and tried a variety of gin & tonics before ending the night on an array of cocktails, finally calling it quits just before 3am. And believe it or not we didn't feel all that smashed - though the next morning my body definitely reported it'd been a very big night!

I think this is my mojito in the final bar of the night.
