StRt Gallery
I've always said that the streets are my gallery, more than some stuffy national gallery with 'old masters' I can't relate to. And it seems one of my favourite artists had a similar idea because last week J & I noticed a small hand-written poster stuck to a wall inviting people to come to a 'one-off exhibition in my makeshift gallery'. The venue was a small alley in a quiet corner of the city, the time was Sunday evening, and the exhibition was being put on by Jules!
So J & I headed on down and sure enough it was as promised, a temporary take-over of the alley, with Jules in the process of hanging up some oil-paintings of amanita eaters (the birds) and similar work. We hung around, then other people started to turn up, then the wine came out, and then it was a regular exhibition with people milling back and forth checking out the work, a few people taking photographs, friends of the artist having a laugh and non-friends getting a brief word in here and there.
I tip my hat to Jules. What better venue for an artist who's generated a quietly unknown following amongst the street-art watchers?!
