Predators, Paedophiles and Parish Priests
It must be scary being a parent, there seem to be so many threats to your young humans these days. More than ever, some would say - but I disagree. Oh sure the predators, paedophiles and parish priests seem to be in the news a lot more, but they're not a new invention. They've been preying on little boys and little girls for centuries, nay millenia!
So why does it feel like the kids today are in 'greater danger' than when we were kids or our parents were kids? Because news media grab audience numbers by shouting the most lurid details they're permitted to disclose, everyone gets hyper-sensitive, and next thing you know that roll of film you dropped off gets hand-delivering by the police asking questions about little Jonny's bath photos!
It's like the ill-fated WAR ON TERROR!!!, at what point does it change from proactive to hysterical?
