I Never

I Never

24 Nov 2007

In a game of I Never there wouldn't be too many statements I'd be able to not take a drink on, but in the highly unlikely event of "I never voted" coming up I would have enjoyed a momentary reprieve from the alcomohol. Until today. Today I lost my voting cherry, and I have to say, I feel rather dirty - three-showers later kind of dirty.

Three countries, a handful of elections, and to this day I'd kept myself pure and clean for the one true political love I've yet to find. But now, I've sullied my reputation, I've laid down with political sinners, shamed my parents, and I have to say, it wasn't worth it.

Oh sure, my friends said the time would come when I'd feel ready, that I'd want to take a stance, let my voice be heard, be part of the solution... but really, I just felt the politicians wanted to play doctors and nurses, and now my special place feels funny. And they didn't even buy me dinner or give me a kiss goodnight.

Kate, Peter, Sandy, Kevin, tell me you'll respect me in the morning, tell me it meant something to you too! At the very least please tell me that you'll make the big bad Jonny go away - those eyebrows scare me!

[edit 25/11/07 :: Oh alright, maybe it wasn't all that bad. And the eyebrows are out, so I guess that's something to be happy about.]
