Running the Gauntlet
I finally went out this evening to grab some new shots. Usually this kind of last-minute mid-week dash is depressingly futile, but this evening I was pleasantly surprised.
I stopped by my park, which in the dead of night is particularly dark and even for me -a decent sized bloke- somewhere to keep your wits about you. This is the tunnel you have to pass through from the city to reach my park. I used to run through here at night a lot, and this was the point where I'd turn my iPod off and run with clenched fists in case the blinding light and then sudden darkness beyond harboured a bunch of opportunistic muggers. It never did. I usually never saw a soul beyond. But I always kept myself tensely coiled, ready to spring into action.
