Anzac

Anzac

25 Apr 2007

Today is Anzac Day here down-under, so I thought I'd go to the dawn service and see what it's all about. I was hoping to catch some good shots of say, the bugle player trumpeting the Last Post, or perhaps some old codgers all wrinkly and full of medals. But of course it was dawn so the lighting was non-existent, though more problematic was the crowd - I'm tall and even I barely had line-of-sight on the proceedings, but my lens had too many heads in the way to focus on anything!

So I decided to stick around for a 'little while' afterwards in the hopes of getting a shot of the memorial with the wreaths. But because I'm fussy, and because so many people wanted to look at the memorial, then check out each and every wreath, the 'little while' became a long while and about an hour and a half later I finally got my shot. Such patience, my dad would be proud.
