So-Con’d
One of the best parts of The Fringe is The Garden of Unearthly Delights. You've got your side-shows, freak-shows, theatre stuff, bars, foods stalls and all round good atmosphere, so H & I tend to hang out there a fair bit while The Fringe is in town.
A new arrival this year was billed as So-Co, a 'dance lounge hidden inside four steel shipping containers' which I thought sounded kinda groovy. So when I saw they had free entry on opening night we ducked in, and it turned out to be a cosy place replete with long bar, cozy couches, stage and dance floor. Cool I decided. Until H came back from the bar and pointed out the predominance of Southern Comfort on the drinks list. Then I noticed the ever present Southern Comfort spot-lights and connected it all to the name of the club. So-Co. Southern Comfort. Man, I felt so conned, my whole opinion of it changed in an instant.
Damn corporate presence pervades even the most bohemian of events these days! Gah!
