Glistening
It's late, so I'll fill in the details on this shot tomorrow.
It was about this time last year that I had a pretty successful visit to the dahlia garden in the local Botanic Gardens. So I thought I'd swing by and see if there was anything worth-while to grab a convenient shot of - seeing as the archives have been a bit bare of late. And even though the plants and flowers were only half grown there were still some nice blooms, so I whipped out my macro and went to town on a few of them, like this one.
Despite the name, I think the glistening look on this flower is simply the sun glinting off the surface of the petals. An interesting effect.
But you know, I'm a bit worried. See, when I look back at some of my older shots from the G3 I notice the image quality isn't as good as my new 400D. And this shot (amongst a few others) was taken with my cheapy macro which I love because it allows me to get very very close to things, but I'm worried that I'll look back on these shots in the future and see some obviously cheap glass.
Hmmm... maybe I should ask for a macro lens for my birthday? (Damn you camera gods! Must you make me lust after everything camera! You BASTARDS!)
