Going Up

I'm really getting into photos depicting ordinary things from daily life. Something we're all familiar with, possibly a shot that isn't an obvious one to take, but when you see it you appreciate how a camera can capture that moment.

At first I was going to post this one as a purely black and white shot but then I tried something new. I've layered a black and white version at 75% opacity over the top of the colour version, which has the effect of washing out the colours. I thought it suited the tone of something as uninteresting as travelling up an escalator.
