Hug Me!

Long before Malcolm I got up close and personal with a Joshua tree in Red Rock Canyon. When I took the photo I was going for a scene with one out-of-focus spike pointing right at the lens and the rest of the leaves fanning out around it. But when I came to process the shot yesterday I was a bit disappointed to see that I had just missed the right angle! Bugger. I was going to relegate the shot to the archives, but gave it a quick few minutes of processing to see whether there was anything worth-while and suddenly the play of light and dark areas, from black shadow to luminous green really hit a chord with me. I like it.
