Can’t see the forest for the trees
For me, one of the most memorable things we did on our trip was to hike The Stawamus Chief (aka 'The Chief') in Squamish with a couple of friends. Such a simple thing but it's the one thing that really sticks out in my mind.
I promised H I'd drag her up The Grouse Grind, a well known Vancouver hike, but when our lovely hosts C&J suggested The Chief, H said it was one or the other. I hadn't conquered The Chief yet, plus it was pretty much in C&J's backyard so it was an easy choice.
It took us about 1 hour 40 including rest stops to climb up the 700 metre peak (that's 2000+ feet in old english). We kicked back in the sun and admired the view for a while before storming back down in an hour. And of course we spent the next couple of days recovering from it all!
