Symmetry
This is the underside of Dead-End Bridge, and when I took the photo I liked the little nook of space under the bridge, and the view of the ramp angling up, the ground angling down, and the level water in-between. It also had a certain feel of being a launch-bay (think sci-fi, spaceship, etc - not that I'm a sci-fi fan by any means) but I suspect I'm the only one who feels that.
Once I'd processed the shot and it came time to name it, I took a closer look at what I had and tried to figure out why I quite liked it. I came up with two other things (aside from what I initially saw in the scene); the contrast of the dark space against the bright sun/horizon in the distance; and (this is the one I now prefer) the symmetry in the photo. Ignoring the building and car on the right, the rest of the shot is very balanced and symmetrical. As humans they say we're subconsciously attracted to things (& people/faces) that are symmetrical, so perhaps that's why I quite like the shot?
