Matchstick
Since Ghost Light went down so well (2 comments on the same post in one day, a first for me here - but who's counting!?) I thought I'd post another from my long exposure tests. I'm calling this one Matchstick, because on first glance I reckon it looks like the light trail has been made with a lit match. What I did was equally simple, but less likely to burn the house down!
Remember when you were a kid and you discovered that a torch (aka flashlight) could shine through your fingers/nails/mouth/nose with a satisfying blood-red glow? Well, thinking back to that, I took my mini Maglite and held my little finger over the end, then wildly-thrashed my hand around for the 15 sec exposure. This provided the rich red glow trails. But, because my little finger didn't completely cover the Maglite lens (intentionally) some of the un-shielded white light escaped out the sides and caused the brighter flashes along the red trails. - I think it's an interesting effect.
In other news, sorry about the sloppy updates of late. I've been working 12 hour days at work and something's got to give. Just sucks it's my phlog. Stick around, don't unbookmark or unblogroll me just yet, the daily updates will be back on schedule ASAP.
