The Church on the Hill
A couple friends of ours, T&C, got married here in Febuary this year. They're god-people (shame) but I have to say that aside from the religiously-exuberant ceremony, it was one of the best weddings I've been to. They did everything their way, a very personal wedding + reception, and it shined.
Jump back to the previous October/November and T asked me to do her wedding invitations. At first I was quite flattered. But after a month of stressing about it, a little less flattered. - See, T gave me carte blanche on the whole design, which is always a double-edged sword! For weeks I sketched, sought inspiration from everywhere, then asked her for some photos of her & him. But I just drew a blank on every front!
In desperation, one weekend afternoon, I went off and took some photos of the church and the reception restaurant. But the design didn't 'do it' for me. So I stressed some more, then went back to the church and took some night shots. Still, nothing. As time passed, the pressure I place on myself increased, till time basically ran out and at the last minute I ended up doing a pretty good design. Which she loved! Thank GOD! (pun!)
I didn't end up using the night shots because of a particularly problematic spotlight causing a bit of over-exposure that really bothered me. I tried to tweak the shot, but to no avail. - Eventually I got around to going back and re-taking the shot, keeping a better eye on the lighting this time! - It's still not a perfect shot, but it'll do, for now.
Start the year right with a designer Detour calendar. January 09 and February 09 now available.
