Dahlia Sky
After last weeks brief visit to the Botanic Gardens was cut short by a dead camera battery I took advantage of the nice sunny day yesterday to go for a proper ramble. Now, I'm not mad into flowers as such, and I certainly can't tell which is what without looking at the little signs, but like I said, the weather was nice and it was a good reason to get out and about. Besides, I think the last time I wandered through there with a camera was just before I left for the big smoke, and that was a few years back now!
This was one of my first stops, the Dahlia garden. More variety of sizes, shapes and colours in the one family than you'd think/expect/know! I got a couple of good portraits of this one (is it proper to say portrait when it's not a 'face' per-say?) and then tried a different angle. I was aiming at getting a macro perspective with the pointy petals right on the lens when I noticed the rich colours of the flower against the sky. I liked it. Then the almost bursting buds came into shot and I loved it!
It was a very pretty flower, so I'll have some other shots of it later in the week perhaps.
