One Way Crazy
So this is on the same weekend trip as The Croft Institute. We'd just been to the aquarium where unfortunately they didn't have any penguins, but did have some rather large rays that could wrap themselves round the divers feeding them.
We were walking to the tram on our way back to the hotel when we passed this bridge and I spotted a rather large street art poster. I took a few shots and we went on our way.
Now, the initial shots were okay, but nothing dramatic. But having shot in RAW format, and having successfully played with Another Brick the other evening I thought I'd see what some tweaking could extract. Again, this is what I love about digital, the variables it allows you to play with. As a colour shot it was so-so. But change to black & white, deepen the shadows, up the contrast, and apply some vignetting and wow! - Technically this is an edited shot, but if I were a more accomplished photographer I imagine I could get this image directly out of the camera. I'm a long way from achieving that, but changing the settings on-screen with the RAW file has certainly taught me some things. And that's what it's all about, learning and improving.
