Harley
I'm not much of a dog person, much prefer cats to be honest. H's mum had this dog, Harley, who was a bit of a simple dog. Life revolved around getting attention, getting food, and if possible getting food while getting attention. But all in a goofy-good-natured way. You'd walk into the house and the chubby little guy would bound over to you, ears flopping and tongue hanging out while he grinned madly. He loved people.
Then the poor little guy got diabetes, which in the grand scheme of things was kind-of funny because H's dad was a diabetic. The two of them used to go off together to get their jabs.
Then Harley died. He'd been the family dog for many years so H's mum and dad were a little upset. They missed the goofy little guy.
A month or two later I was going through some of my archives when I came across this shot. It was one afternoon when we'd been sitting around the table and Harley was intermittantly wandering around our feet and napping. I leaned down and snapped this one of him dozing off. - I thought it was nice. So I printed it up and popped it into a nice frame and gave it to H's mum a day or two later. She cried when she saw it. But she loved it at the same time. Now it sits with the other family photos.
And they've got another dog like Harley. Max. Not the same, but they love him just as much. Goofy and all.
