Le Buzz
The same recent sunny weekend we met the big bird we went for a hike back up to where we'd seen the lizard for some fresh air and to stretch the legs. At the half-way point, as in the furthest we went before we turned back, we came across the grassy ruins of a house, as we stood around I noticed this tall plant with two lone flowers. As I went to get the shot a bee flew in and started to harvest the pollen. Nice!
I got two shots before H noticed the ants around our feet, millions of them, and they were starting to venture over our shoes and up our legs. I don't mind creepie-crawlies, as long as they're not ON me, so I stomped and brushed them off. Then I went back to get another shot of the flowers. In the 20 or so seconds it took for me to get in position, turn on the camera, change a setting and focus, the damn ants were all over me yet again! Fuck this, I thought, and decided to be happy with whatever shots I already had.
It wasn't until I came home and looked at the shots on screen that I saw the bees pollen-laden sacks on it's legs, near to bursting I thought. H looked at the pic and suggested it was a European Bee, mentioning that they can sting quite badly. I said I hadn't heard whether or not it had an accent to it's buzz. "Le buzz, le buzz!"
