Canopy

Canopy

There was a conference I wanted to go to, so H & I used it as a good excuse to have a weekend away, to go to the 'big city' as it were. Plus, we had friends there, meaning accommodation wasn't a problem.

So I went off to my conference during the day, while H did her own thing or hung out with the friends. It was only a two day conference and we'd done the usual thing of allowing a day or two either side to chill out or to wander round. On the Saturday K (who we were staying with) & his girlfriend C took us into the mountains, which even though I'd lived in the city for 6 months at one stage, I'd never made it out to! Shame really, since it was only an hours drive and well worth it.

We took the steep incline railway (think cage with seats, on a 45-60 degree angle, attached to a chain which hauls you up and down... okay it's a bit more techinical than that, I might be over-simplifying!) which lead to the forest walkway. That was the best in my opinion, I mean, I enjoy a good view as much as the next person but it's a completely different world amongst trees so dense the canopy hides most of the sky. Big tall trees climbing 30, 40, 50 feet up and beyond. Just made me want to capture the perspective.
