The Show
I've always loved long exposure shots, there's just something about them. A photo captures a moment, but a long exposure captures a stretch of time. Or is that "stretches time"? And the colours, they jump out.
After I'd had my camera for a while I caught on to the various photo competition sites around the place. Photo Friday, Theme Thursday, and various others. Some have strict rules, some it's a free-for-all. One site had a fantastic shot taken by a French woman of a fair-ground ride, full motion blur, and then sepia toned black-n-white. I loved it. It really inspired me to try something similar. And then the fair came to town! Excellent.
So after H & I had spent the day there, I dropped her home and went back, tripod in hand. One end of the grounds was bustling with people, and my tripod attracted some curious stares from the rabble. I moved up to the other end and found myself a nice little spot in the shadows by this lone beast, and I snapped away.
These shots for me, are fairly hit and miss. I'll take a few shots, then try a lower speed film setting with a longer exposure, or the opposite, then try whatever else I can, and take shot after shot. Somewhere, one will turn out just right.
Start the year right with a designer Detour calendar. January 09 and February 09 now available.
